The traditional worker's demonstration took place on November 7th, 2006. The initiative group "Protect town-forest of Akademgorodok" made up a column of marchers with its slogans: "Not only forests are cut down but our rights", "Stop illegal cutting", "The City Administration are destroying town forests", "Stop blandishments, take legal steps" etc. Nearly 300 persons took part in the demonsration.

Group activists were handing out the flysheets with information concerning the building projects on the forest areas. Besides the flysheets presenred information on alternative building sites.

At the meeting taking place near Palace of Culture "Akademia" the group representative T.Kunina reminded that the town-forest of Akademgorodok had served as a model for construction of academic science centers in different countries.

The speaker called the participients of the meeting to take part in public hearing, the date of which should be appointed by the City Administration in near future.

The meeting adopted the resolution: to remove building sites from the forest areas to vast vacant fields to the east of Akademgorodok; to specify the historical center of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok as the site with "World Cultural Heritage" status - a park of M.A.Lavrentyev.
